Selection Criteria

Final selection and funding decisions will be made by the BSF Board of Governors, based on the evaluations and recommendations presented by the BSF staff, often in consultation with others. In general, decisions will be based on the criteria listed below. However, depending on the nature of the specific parameters of the program in the current year (see this year 'call for proposals') additional considerations may apply.
  • The expected contribution of the workshop to science at large.
  • The expected contribution to the strengthening of the scientific relations between the two countries, particularly in areas that are under-represented in the regular BSF research grants program.
  • Number of participants.
  • Research accomplishments of the applicants and proposed participants.
  • Institutional distribution of the participants (meetings that are mainly of two groups are discouraged).
  • Length of the workshop (duration of 3-5 days is suggested, not including site visits).
  • Arrangements for the participation of young scientists and students.
